New Year's Day Candlelight Celebration
There is a New Year's Day Candlelight Celebration and Renewal of Faith as a Community planned from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Meadow of Our Lady of the Snows Church, 145 Wheeler Street, just off Ski Hill Dr. A candlelight service will begin with a gathering of the community around a welcoming bonfire to share New Year's greetings and warm winter drinks. Father Alex along with other community pastors will lead us in prayer and personal reflection as we walk through The Meadows by the Stations of the Cross. Falls prevention workshop
Cascade Medical presents "Be Strong: A Falls Prevention Workshop" 10:30-11:30 a.m. Dec. 30 at the Leavenworth Senior Center. This is a free two-part workshop taught by the Rehabilitation Team at Cascade Medical. The class starts with a series of strengthening exercises at 10:30 a.m. At 11 a.m., staff will conduct individual balance assessments and give tips on reducing fall risks. School naming survey
The Cascade School Board is seeking community input regarding the naming of the new elementary school on Pine Street. The naming committee consisting of school staff and community members narrowed the list of names from over twenty to three: Alpine Lakes Elementary, Enchantment Elementary, and Leavenworth Elementary. To post your input, go to the Cascade School District website www.cascaded.org and click on "Please take the survey" in the article under District News. The survey will end on Sunday, Jan. 10. Resolve to give blood in January for National Blood Donor Month
In January, during National Blood Donor Month, the American Red Cross encourages people to roll up their sleeves to give blood to help maintain a sufficient blood supply for patients. The Red Cross encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly, beginning in January. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types AB, O, B negative and A negative.
