Lady 'Dogs beat Panthers

Posted

Tuesday, November 28 saw the lady Bulldogs basketball team take on the Ellensburg Bulldogs in an away game, where they won 73-29.
Then on Saturday, December 2 the girls found themselves up against the visiting River View Panthers.
By half time, the lady 'dogs were ahead 38-21.
At the end of the game, the Bulldogs came off the court victorious with the winning score of 66-31.
"We did some things fairly well but there's a lot of things we've got to get better at," Coach Brent Darnell said. "I thought we did some good stuff on offense and I liked how we attacked the basket, but we were kind of not doing it consistently."
According to Darnell, when the second quarter came around everyone was mostly settling for making three pointers.
"Sometimes the problem when you get wide open threes is they get intense and you have to take them quickly," Darnell said. "We kind of got out of our aggressiveness in attacking the basket and that's what we're good at."
But Coach Darnell was very pleased with the defense within the first and fourth quarters of the game.
"I thought it was really good," Darnell said. "I thought Hailey Van Lith did a good job at getting up at pass lanes and getting steals. She finished with six steals."
Darnell was also impressed with the performance of Claire High.
"She (High) went out and had eight offensive rebounds," Darnell stated.
A couple of the freshmen, Millie Brunner and Jalynn Darnell, also had a great game that evening.
"Millie Brunner came in and had a good fourth quarter in there and did some good things, and Jalynn Darnell came and had a decent fourth quarter on defense," Darnell said.
According to Darnell, there is still a lot of growing for the team to do.
"I'm excited for where I think we're going to be, but right now we've got a lot of things to fix and get better at for sure," Darnell said.
Next on the team's agenda is to play against the Zillah Leopards in an away game on Friday, December 8 and then take on the La Salle Lightning for a home game on Saturday, December 9.
