Cashmere Rotary, Martin's Market plan food drive

Saturday, Dec. 17, is the big day for Rotary Club of Cashmere and Martin's Market Fresh IGA Food Drive which will be held from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. at Martin's IGA Market Fresh, 130 Titchenal Way, Cashmere.

Volunteers needed

to pack food boxes

Volunteers are needed to help put together the Cashmere Food Bank Christmas food boxes for needy families from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m Saturday, Dec. 17, at the American Legion Hall, 401 Sunset Highway, Cashmere.

The boxes will be distributed out of the Legion Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.

Volunteers are welcome to stop by and offer whatever time they can spare.

Cashmere Community Toy Drive underway

Wacoka Kiwanis Club of Cashmere and the Cashmere Cub Scout Pack 1 have combined their annual toy drive efforts into the "Cashmere Community Toy Drive." Large, decorated donation boxes are located at Agave Azul restaurant at 128 Cottage Ave.; Apple Annie's Antique Gallery, 100 Apple Annie Ave.; Brian's Pizza, 407 Cottage Ave.; the Cashmere Post Office at 121 Elberta Ave.; Cashmere Valley Bank, 117 Aplets Way; Clifford's Hardware, 127 Cottage Ave.; Club Crowe, 108-1/2 Cottage Ave.; Doane's Valley Pharmacy, 119 Cottage Ave.; Liberty Orchards, 117 Mission Ave.; and Martin's IGA Market Fresh, 130 Titchenal Way where people can drop off toy donations. Toys should be new.

Jars for monetary donations also have been placed at participating businesses.

Events

CHS Jazz Band, Apollo Club perform Christmas concert tonight

A "Jazzy Classy Christmas" concert starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Pybus Market. The family-friendly concert is free to the general public. The Cashmere High School Jazz Band takes the stage for a 45-minute set at 6 p.m., followed by the Apollo Club at 7 p.m. for the second set. The concert is sponsored by the JC and Randy Baldwin family.

Library storytime includes Christmas story, Santa

A special Christmas story will be presented during the Cashmere Public Library's storytime for preschoolers, 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the library, 300 Woodring. Besides stories, there will also be songs, action rhymes and finger plays, candy canes, and with a special visit from Santa to follow the story time. Parents are welcome to take pictures with Santa.

Christmas in Cashmere offers old-fashioned holiday fun

The Cashmere Chamber of Commerce will host a Christmas in Cashmere event from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the 100 block of Cottage Avenue.

Enjoy a complimentary warm beverage, holiday treats, goodie bags, indoor arts and crafts, festive music and entertainment as you cozy up around a fire pit. Get a photo taken at one of the Christmas themed photo stands with family and friends while awaiting the arrival of the big man himself, Santa Claus!

Christ Center plans Christmas events 

Christ Center, which meets at The Conservatory behind Apple Annie's, is planning several holiday events in addition to the regular Sunday services.

The 7th Annual Ladies Christmas Tea with national recording artist Holly Starr is 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. This is an evening to celebrate Christmas, enjoy music and drink some amazing tea.  

The traditional Christmas Eve service, "Carols & Candlelight," is at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. Walk through the Christmas story and sing traditional carols.

at Pybus Market

Santa Claus also will be available at Pybus Market for children and family photos at no cost from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18.

Baked goods, crafts part of Christmas Lighting fun

The Leavenworth Community United Methodist Women are holding their annual Christmas Lighting Bake Sale, Craft Fair and Luncheon from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 17, at the Community United Methodist Church, 418 Evans St., Leavenworth. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost of lunch is $11. Proceeds go to church programs and international missions. Call the church office 548-5619 or Fran 548-9168.
