Posted

As Republican Representative Dave Reichert finds himself in the process of retiring, potential democratic candidates are coming forward to be the new face of Washington's 8th Congressional district.
These democratic candidates, part of North Central Washington United (NCW United) paid a visit to Cashmere's Riverside Center on Monday, November 13 to introduce themselves to those in attendance and to answer any questions asked of them by the people.
The candidates in attendance included Kim Schrier, Jason Rittereiser, Toby Whitney, Mona Das, Thomas Cramer and Brayden Olson.
Schrier is a Pediatrician from Issaquah, Rittereiser is a former prosecutor from Issaquah and Whitney, from North Bend, is a former Technology Manager as well as a Congressional Staffer.
Das is a Technology Entrepreneur and Community Leader from Seattle, Cramer is a Businessman and Democratic Activist from Sammamish and Olson is a Businessman in Seattle.
NCW United seeks to inform, understand, protect and persuade, through a supportive and action-oriented community.
The organization has four main objectives: 1) Bring together concerned citizens who desire to be informed and are empowered to take action, 2) Participate in events and activities that help protect the vulnerable and bring about effective positive change, 3) Trade in accurate and reliable information in order to educate the community, and 4) Persuade and inform through fostering an informed dialogue among diverse viewpoints.
All of the candidates stood up at the front and shared some of their background, where they are coming from and what they are currently doing in life. They all stated what their intentions are for the public if they were to be elected and what their beliefs are.
Among the topics discussed that night were increases in wages, housing costs and healthcare costs.
NCW United meets from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. every second Monday of the month at various locations.
Stations were also provided during the Cashmere meeting for people to register to vote if they haven't already.
Donations to NCW United were accepted as the potential candidates gave their speeches.
