Cashmere Chamber of Commerce to host free community shred day on April 19

Posted

CASHMERE - The Cashmere Chamber of Commerce is inviting local residents and businesses to a Free Community Shred Day on Friday, April 19, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The event will take place in the parking lot at 118 S Division St, next to the Cashmere Baptist Church.

This presents an excellent opportunity for community members to securely dispose of old documents and records to help prevent identity theft. An on-site document shredding truck will be available to shred papers.

According to the event organizers, examples of items that can be shredded and securely disposed of include:

  • For 1-3 months: utility bills, sales receipts, ATM and bank deposit slips
  • For 1 year: checkbook ledgers, paycheck stubs, monthly mortgage statements
  • For 7 years: bank statements, W2 and 1099 forms, records for tax purposes, canceled checks, and unemployment income stubs

The Cashmere Chamber of Commerce is providing this as a free service to local residents and businesses. Take advantage of this convenient way to safely get rid of old, sensitive paperwork and help protect against identity theft and fraud.
