Cashmere splits doubleheader with Kiona Benton

Posted

The Cashmere Bulldogs (5-4) hosted Kiona Benton City High School for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 28. On this windy afternoon, Cashmere was set to add to a strong start to the season. The first game began scoreless until the fourth inning. Kiona Benton managed to get the bases loaded and proceeded to hit a blooper that fell into right field, scoring 2 runs. Cashmere quickly responded in the next inning, tying the game by a couple of hits, and stealing home plate. After being tied for five innings, Kiona Benton pulled away and finished the game with a final score of 6-2. This loss was difficult for the bulldogs as they stayed in range the entire game but slipped up towards the end. After this first game, the Bulldogs felt determined to bounce back. They exploded for 13 runs in the next game of the doubleheader and completely shut out Kiona Benton. With a final score of 13-0, Cashmere, once again, showed their resilience and tendency to come together for well-played baseball. The Bulldogs have had some strong showings in the season thus far and look to continue their resilient efforts with another doubleheader on Saturday, April 8 against La Salle.
