Recently, Diana Potter took over as Chamber Manager for the Cashmere Chamber of Commerce. Potter is a local business owner invested in the success of her adopted town.

Her passion is in helping her community through her role as chamber manager and through volunteering.

Potter and her family enjoy all that Cashmere has to offer, from its abundant natural beauty to the local shops and restaurants. We caught up with Potter recently to learn more about her vision for the future of Cashmere.

Tell our readers a little bit about yourself.

I'm a proud business owner and a devoted wife and mother, I am on the brink of becoming the parent of a college student. My commitment to community is evident through the countless hours I've volunteered at my child's school and my role as a Girl Scout Troop Leader with the Girl Scouts of Western Washington. My passion extends to helping small businesses and cherishing the invaluable moments I've spent as a volunteer. I am an outdoor enthusiast, I find solace in camping and hiking, skiing and I am often accompanied by my two loyal, large dogs. Cashmere has become more than just a residence for my family; its abundant outdoor opportunities and quintessential small-town allure have made it our cherished home.

What is a normal day like for you as chamber manager?

As the manager of the Cashmere Chamber of Commerce, my day is a blend of tasks tailored to the unique needs and events of our community. My mornings begin by opening the office, addressing overnight emails, and setting the day's agenda. I read and answer emails at the beginning of my day, and I engage with businesses, locals, and tourists alike. Connecting with current or prospective Chamber members, I address their concerns and assist with event planning and membership matters. I help the planning and orchestration of upcoming Chamber events, from planning committee meetings to digital posting, flyers and poster making for events, these events keep our community vibrant. My role also extends to promoting Cashmere, from updating our digital presence to fostering tourism, while also navigating challenges and building relationships with regional stakeholders. Constantly striving to enhance our town's prospects, I embrace continuous learning and ensure every day concludes with preparations for the next. In this ever-evolving role, adaptability, communication, and a proactive approach are key to being successful.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy strolling outdoors, reconnecting with local family members, cycling through scenic routes, and spending quality time with my husband and our young adult daughter.

What makes Cashmere special?

Cashmere stands out as one of the most picturesque places I've ever called home. With its abundant trails to explore in the area and the Wenatchee river to admire and enjoy, it offers endless natural allure. The local eateries are relaxed and charming, and the community radiates kindness, taking immense pride in their Cashmere heritage.

What are some of your goals for the community?

Many folks might not realize what a hidden gem Cashmere truly is! We've got this fantastic museum that I genuinely believe is a must-visit. I want travelers to pause in our town to explore our quaint local businesses, savor a meal, or grab a drink. I would like to introduce a nature and art walk for everyone to relish the beauty and creativity Cashmere has to offer. To have an artist culture added to our community on a larger scale than what we currently have right now. Let's shine a light on our little corner of the world!

Who or what inspires you?

I'm deeply inspired by strong women, and I'm fortunate to be surrounded by them in my family. Those who champion the underdog and actively make a difference hold a special place in my heart. I'm always in awe of the brilliance of new technology and the innovators who dare to think differently. Additionally, the tenacity of small business owners who chase and realize their dreams serves as a constant source of motivation for me.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I would want and hope my legacy to be one of integrity and compassion: Though my impact may be small, that I've made a positive difference in the world, even if it is a small (impact), and to ensure that my actions brought no harm to others. And, I had a good time doing it.

Is there anything else you want our readers to know?

I love to have a sense of humor. Life is too short to be negative and not to make an effort to make each day a great day even when it's not.
