Cashmere High School art students win awards at State Superintendent's art show

CASHMERE – Two Cashmere High School art students won awards at the Superintendent's High School Art Show in Olympia.

Savannah Hamilton won a “Central Washington University Art for Change Award,” which includes a $2,000 tuition waiver scholarship for CWU.  

Kimberly Strong won an honorable mention with her oil pastel drawing “Denim Debut”.

“Both of these students are extremely talented and hard working,” CHS art instructor Alan Pace said. 

“They’re also very thoughtful, interesting, and creative individuals, which I believe comes through in their artwork,” he said.

After winning categories at the Regional High School Art Show in March, the two students qualified to send their pieces to the state show.

The regional juried show, which had over 200 entries, was open to all High Schools in the North Central Educational Service District. 

The show is made possible each year through the sponsorship of the North Central Educational Service District and partnership with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
