CASHMERE - A hit-and-run suspect who struck a Cashmere home and fled the scene has been arrested, thanks to the assistance of a citizen, the Chelan County Sheriff's Office reported.
The incident occurred on May 5, at approximately 3:03 am in the 5100 block of Mission Creek Rd in Cashmere. A vehicle left the roadway, struck a residence causing significant damage, and then fled the scene. No one inside the home was injured.
Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle, described as a lifted white Chevrolet pickup with front-end damage. They reached out to the community via social media for assistance in locating the vehicle.
Later that morning, at about 8:03 am, a citizen contacted the Sheriff's office through RiverCom and reported that they had found the possible suspect vehicle. Deputies responded to a residence in the 5400 block of Binder Rd in Cashmere, where they located the suspect truck, a 2012 white Chevy Silverado with fresh damage to the front end.
Through their investigation, deputies identified the suspect driver as Dustin Olson, a 30-year-old male from Cashmere. Olson was arrested and booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on initial charges of Malicious Mischief 1st degree, Hit and Run- Attended Property, and Reckless Endangerment.
