Cashmere schools prepare for the Winter Concert, the biggest of the year

Posted

CASHMERE — Families will want to mark their calendars and arrive early for one of the most anticipated student performances of the season. The Cashmere School District’s annual Winter Concert is set for Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Cashmere High School gymnasium, bringing together band and choir students from grades 6 through 12.

The event is the district’s largest music performance of the year, featuring students from both the middle school and high school in a 90-minute program built around collaboration. Choir Director Adam Ream says the concert includes nearly every ensemble the schools offer, with groups blending across grade levels and musical disciplines. The result is a show that highlights not only the range of the district’s music programs, but the way younger and older students learn from one another on stage.

Because of the number of performers and families involved, the gym is expected to fill quickly. Attendees are encouraged to plan ahead for parking and seating, especially as the concert moves into its final rehearsals — a period that traditionally generates a lot of excitement among students.

The Winter Concert is one of the few districtwide music events that brings all secondary musicians together under one roof, giving the community an opportunity to see the full progression of Cashmere’s music education program, from sixth-grade beginners to advanced high-school performers. For many families, it’s also a kickoff to the holiday season and a chance to see the work students have been putting in since the start of the school year.

Ream said more information on upcoming music events will be available as the calendar moves into January, but for now, the focus is on getting Cashmere’s biggest concert of the year ready for the stage.
