CASHMERE — Local author Kasey Safford will visit Understory Book Shop in downtown Cashmere for a book signing and meet-and-greet event on Saturday, July 20, from 4 to 6 p.m., to promote her newly released young adult fantasy novel The Amulet of Undoing.
The event will take place at the bookstore, located at 111 Railroad Ave, and will feature opportunities for readers to meet the author, purchase signed copies, and participate in themed activities inspired by the book.
“We are so excited to have another local author in store to share their work with us!” said Understory Book Shop owner Mary Mainord. “Supporting our neighbors and community is our top priority, so we will continue to spotlight as much local talent and hard work as we can. We look forward to many more events in the future.”
The Amulet of Undoing, independently published in May, follows the story of a fairy princess and a sprite king who must form an uneasy alliance on a quest to recover a powerful amulet capable of saving their realm. Blending fantasy elements with an enemies-to-lovers romance, the novel also explores themes of identity and self-acceptance.
Copies of the book are available at Understory Book Shop, Fable Books and Blooms in Wenatchee, and online through Amazon. Attendees may bring previously purchased books to be signed or buy copies at the event. A special dessert referenced in the novel will be served, and book-themed giveaways and activities are planned.
“I’m so excited to share this special story with my community,” said Safford. “I originally had the idea for this story over four years ago. It’s crazy to think that what was once only in my head is now on paper to share with those around me. I’m so grateful to Understory Book Shop owner Mary Mainord for allowing me the opportunity to do that through this event.”
Safford, who graduated from Cascade Christian Academy and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Arizona State University, lives in Wenatchee with her husband. The Amulet of Undoing is her first published work.
