WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee Figure Skating Club will perform their annual holiday show Santa’s Workshop on Ice on Saturday, December 21 with showtimes at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Town Toyota Center.
“Come join us for the Wenatchee Figure Skating Cub's annual holiday show,” the event page states. “Santa's head elves, TInsel and Jingle, will give us an inside peek into the buzzing North Pole Workshop on Christmas Eve while they pack the sleigh with all of the favorite classic toys.”
Figure skaters of all ages will perform in the show and the storyline is about elves helping Santa get ready for the holidays, Wenatchee Figure Skating Club parent volunteer Marcia Fall said.
“So people can expect to see everything from Barbies to kites to candy, all different types of toys that are dancing to different or skating to different music,” Fall said. “It's kind of a fun, frolicky theme.”
Fall said the show is a fun holiday event for all ages. This year six children from Cashmere will be performing in the show.
“I think the show is just a great opportunity to get in the festive spirit,” she said. “First of all, we think that Santa's workshop just really gets everybody excited about the holidays. And it's a great chance to see some fun kids’ skating.”
“It's a great chance to see how energetic elves can be when they're working on creating toys,” she said. “And it's just a fun, community, family event.”
Tickets are available at the door or online at wenatcheefsc.org.
The Wenatchee Figure Skating Club (WFSC), a non-profit member of U.S. Figure Skating, has supported local skaters since 1991. Based at the Town Toyota Center, the club offers year-round opportunities and hosts events like the "Apple Ice Classic," test sessions, and an annual holiday show. Open to all ages and skill levels, WFSC aims to promote figure skating and help members grow through instruction, support, and community engagement.
“We really talk about youth figure skating in both competitive and non competitive ways,” she said. “Something else that we promote is definitely healthy lifestyles, getting kids more active. I mean, that's a big part of it, creating a sense of community with the arts and with music, and building confidence as kids grow.”
The group’s Learn to Skate Program will start in January and is open to anyone who wants to learn, Fall said.
“So our hope in promoting skating is that more people get an interest in skating, and we encourage that they come and check out the learn to skate program, because there's time to teach everyone how to figure skate,” she said.
