CASHMERE — A small airplane crashed into a home Wednesday evening in Cashmere, injuring two people aboard but leaving the residents unharmed, authorities said.
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said deputies were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. July 30 to the 300 block of Tigner Road, a residential area aligned with the runway of the Cashmere-Dryden Airport. The home is about 250 yards from the end of the airstrip, behind Cashmere High School.
The two occupants of the aircraft — the pilot and a passenger — were transported to Central Washington Hospital. Their conditions were initially unknown, but as of Thursday, both were reported to be in stable condition.
Occupants of the residence were not injured.
Chelan County Sheriff’s Office detectives secured the crash scene Wednesday evening, with Deputy Micah Kwiat keeping onlookers at a safe distance while investigators worked. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have taken over the investigation.
