Port sells Cashmere Mill District parcels to NNN Development for retail project

CASHMERE — The Port of Chelan County has completed the sale of two parcels in the Cashmere Mill District to NNN Development, continuing redevelopment efforts at the former mill site.

The transaction includes Parcels C and E, located north of Sunset Highway within the Cashmere Mill District. According to the Port, the parcels are planned for development as a Dollar General store.

The Chelan County Port Commission declared the parcels surplus on Jan. 26, 2021, through Resolution 2021-01, determining the properties were no longer needed for port purposes and could be made available for private development.

Under the terms of the sale, the purchaser has a 120-day feasibility period, with an option to extend the period by 30 days. The Port is retaining a 15-year right of first refusal if the property use changes in the future. The Port also holds an option to repurchase the parcels if construction does not begin within 450 days of closing.

NNN Development plans to construct a Dollar General on the site.

Jim Fletcher, mayor of the City of Cashmere, said the project reflects ongoing redevelopment of the former mill site.

“We thank the Port of Chelan County for bringing NNN Development with their Dollar General brand store to the City of Cashmere,” Fletcher said. “The Ports vision to redevelop the old mill site is resulting in business investments and economic growth for our city.”

JC Baldwin, commissioner representing Chelan County District No. 2, said the sale fits within the broader redevelopment strategy for the area.

“Declaring these parcels surplus allowed the Port to move forward with development opportunities that align with community needs,” Baldwin said. “This project is also made possible through strong partnerships, including Chelan County’s support through the Cascade Public Infrastructure Fund, which has been instrumental in advancing redevelopment efforts at the Cashmere Mill District. Together, these investments help ensure the long-term success of this area while responsibly managing Port assets.”

The sale continues redevelopment activity at the Cashmere Mill District, which has undergone planning and reinvestment through public and private partnerships.
