Wenatchee man arrested, accused of making online threats against children

CHELAN COUNTY – A 40-year-old man from Wenatchee has been arrested for harassment and making violent threats through social media.

According to Chelan County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the reporting party called from Leavenworth on Sept. 12, stating that someone had threatened harm to their children. The reporting party said that the threats began after the reporting party commented on the suspect’s social media, confronting the suspect’s celebration of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Following the comment, the suspect had written multiple violent threats about the reporting party’s children, including: “You’re right, the next time your kids go to school, I will make sure they die of gun shooting. Good riddance,” and “Remember Matthew Shephard? I want them to feel his pain. Make them feel it. If you challenge me on this, maybe it’s your child that gets shot in the head with a gun. If you disagree, death comes for u.”

CCSO said the threats were taken seriously, with investigators immediately notifying all schools and local law enforcement of the situation. The suspect, identified as Casey A. Garrison, was taken into custody approximately 10 hours after the start of the investigation. The arrest was made with the help of the Columbia River Drug Task Force and East Cascade Swat Team. Garrison was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center for violations of harassment, threats to kill and making bomb threats.

“Incidents of threatening to shoot children at schools will not be tolerated. We thank our local communities and citizens for their continued support in our mission to “be a steadfast ally to all citizens and their safety, adversary to those who would threaten either,” CCSO wrote in a press release.
