Cashmere Dia de los Muertos celebration

Posted

The Cashmere Public Library along with community partners and the Cashmere School District PAC celebrated Dia de los Muertos on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

“We had over 150 people attend,” branch librarian Lisa Lawless said. “The feeling of community was thick in the air as we listened to beautiful Mariachi music from the Wenatchee High School Mariachi Band, made festive crafts, ate Conchas and sipped Hot Cocoa.”

“The Nuestra Comunidad High School club was there volunteering and doing face painting,” she said. “Smiles were everywhere. We really appreciate and enjoyed working with the Cashmere School District PAC to put this together.”

Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a traditional holiday in Latin American culture that celebrates and honors loved ones who have passed on and the relationship between life and death.
