Cashmere Food Bank member retires

Posted

On October 17, the board of the Cashmere Food Bank celebrated the service of long-time board member Donna Wynne. Donna served on the board since 2014 and put in countless hours as Secretary and then Treasurer. Her matter-of-fact expertise on financial matters and business will be missed. She looked out for the food bank’s best interests and advocated for ways to improve its operational capacity. The board is grateful for Donna’s many years of service and pleased that board member Kari Strain, who has financial and nonprofit experience, will take on the Treasurer position.

The Cashmere Food Bank has operated for decades in the community and took the big organizational step of incorporation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2013. The board’s main purpose is to support the food bank and the work of the volunteer Executive Director Pam Leighton who organizes and runs the twice monthly food distributions with the help of dedicated volunteers. The board is currently seeking new members from the community who want to support the mission of the Cashmere Food Bank – to provide free, nutritious food to all people seeking assistance. The position requires a commitment to a monthly board meeting on the 3rd Monday of each month from 6pm to 8pm in Cashmere, as well as administrative work outside of the meetings to work on the food bank’s strategic plan for the future. If you are interested in serving on the board or have questions, please contact Board President Chelsea Evans by email at cashmerefoodbank@gmail.com. If you’ve been looking for a way to directly help your community, this is it! Come with your ideas and energy and commitment to people seeking food assistance.
