Memorial Day 2023 -Remembering those who sacrificed

Posted

Memorial Day, May 31, was the 75th Annual Cavalcade of Flags at the Cashmere cemetery. Those who attended came to reflect and hear the words that several speakers who were there to help us to remember that we are a free nation because of our veterans’ sacrifices. Event coordinator and American Legion Commander Mr. Kenneth Komro opened the memorial event with a short speech and a call for help with future Memorial Days. Next was the presentation of the POW/MIA wreath by Gold Star sister Mrs. Norman Hendrickson.  A beautiful invocation by Pastor Todd James, of Cascade Mountain Bible Church, the singing of the National anthem by Mrs. Karen Schoenwald and the event in sign language by Ariana Komro. The keynote speaker was Major General Mike Worden, a 33-year Air Force Veteran, asking us to pause  and remember and never forget the sacrifices of those fallen and their families. Let us renew  our commitment to the values, ideals and freedoms that made our nation, as it is still the greatest Nation on earth. God Bless you, your loved ones, your memories, and God Bless America.
